Consortium building for global sustainability

Updated: Mar 25, 2022

Solent University is using konfer to help build a network of interdisciplinary researchers to enhance sustainability studies and apply for funding. Areas of interest include diverse fields from environmental science and economics to computer science and engineering design. Konfer shared their call for collaboration with over 150 UK universities.

Dr. Parakram Pyakurel (Faculty of Creative Industries, Architecture and Engineering at Solent University) said:

I received good quality responses from academics across the UK including from Teesside University, York St John, and Westminster. With konfer I have been able to rapidly build a really valuable UK-wide cross-disciplinary network.

Through one connection made on konfer, Solent University is now applying jointly with Teesside University to the Leverhulme Trust for a £500k research grant in relation to marine supply chain management of hydrogen fuel.

Dr Pyakurel adds “On the back of this success in building an effective research consortium, we expect to use konfer more broadly in the future to start new conversations and join forces with other institutions in addressing key research challenges”.
