Widening opportunities to improve animal welfare

One barrier to innovation is the difficulty in identifying potential partners. NCUB’s konfer platform overcomes this by making it easier for potential innovators to connect.

The UK’s National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs) is a konfer-featured organisation dedicated to improving animal welfare and reducing the use of animals in research and testing. The NC3Rs is the first featured organisation to take advantage of a konfer widget allowing their live collaboration opportunities to appear on their own website.

Featuring on konfer provides small companies and academic researchers with a platform to showcase their tools and technologies with the potential to replace, reduce and refine the use of animals (the 3Rs) to a wide audience – enabling access to new partners and maximising the potential of these approaches to deliver their scientific and animal welfare impacts.

The NC3Rs open innovation programme supports public-private partnerships and konfer helps extend the reach of their programme, to a wider pool of innovative companies and UK academics.

Dr Anthony Holmes, NC3Rs Director of Science and Technology, said: ‘We are delighted this development from konfer further supports our technology partnering activities. We use konfer because of their advanced technology functionality for collaboration. Partnering is crucial in supporting 3Rs focused researchers with access, skills, expertise, and funding to develop their models for wider application, or towards commercially ready products and service.’
